Since 'Fringe' ended earlier this year, actor John Noble has only appeared on one TV show. That show was the CBS drama 'The Good Wife,' and apparently they liked him so much that he'll be returning this fall. Or maybe this time it will be Noble's alternative universe double. Stranger things have happened.
Noble's previous guest spot took place in an episode called 'Death of a Client.' As you might imagine, the plot centered on a recently murdered client of Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) named Matthew Ashbaugh, played by Noble. Alicia is asked to provide any information she can about her client that could assist the police in their investigation, but finds herself facing an ethical quandary about posthumously breaking attorney-client privilege. Ashbaugh is actually deceased before the episode begins, and all of Noble's scenes take place in flashback.
While it certainly made sense for Noble to appear in flashback when the episode concerned his own character's death, I have to wonder how they'll be able to fit him in this time. Matthew clearly had a long history with Alicia, so I can only assume that something in their past interactions will end up tying in to a current case she's working on.
'The Good Wife' returns for a fifth season on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 9pm. Noble's episode is expected to hit the air before the end of 2013.
