As if the world of dating wasn't competitive enough; FOX has picked up a new reality competition series, 'Dream Date,' from Ryan Seacrest Productions.
Ryan Seacrest, the host of the long-running reality competition 'American Idol' and the host of the upcoming television event 'The Million Second Quiz,' has been on a producing binge since 2004. The kind-faced celebrity has produced television series including 'On-Air with Ryan Seacrest,' 'Paradise City,' 'Mamma's Boys,' 'Bromance,' 'Denise Richards: It's Complicated' and 'Bank of Hollywood'--and that doesn't even include the array of Kardashian shows he produced, as well. After recently dipping his foot into the realm of documentary series with 'Shahs of Sunset,' Seacrest is set to produce a show in the genre that made him a household name: reality competition.
'Dream Date' was a quiet pick-up for FOX and details about the series remain scarce. Reports indicate that the competition will feature a collection of single women attempting to woo an eligible celebrity bachelor. So, it sounds a lot like 'The Bachelor,' save for the fact that in 'Dream Date' the bachelor in question will (presumably) already be quite famous. There is no airdate yet but a late fall/midseason bow is a possibility, as reality programs are often shot at a break-neck pace.
At the beginning of August we reported that Seacrest had signed on the dotted line to host 'The Million Second Quiz,' a reality competition that will span twelve days (or, a million seconds, get it?) and will air nightly in primetime with live broadcasts. The competition combines a trivia quiz with endurance contests, as contestants will be required to play over the full twelve-day span, pausing strategically to eat and sleep.
Which upcoming Seacrest project will you be watching?
