‘Mad Men’s Ben Feldman to Romance Mindy Kaling on ‘The Mindy Project’
‘Mad Men’ fans know him as Michael Ginsberg, but it seems Ben Feldman will be taking on a new role over at the hit comedy series ‘The Mindy Project,’ starring the hilarious Mindy Kaling.
TVLine was first to report on Feldman’s new comedic role, in which he will play a not-so-nice suitor for Kaling’s Dr. Mindy Lahiri on the FOX comedy. When has Mindy ever really selected a great man?
Feldman will appear in multiple episodes and as executive producer Jack Burditt explains, “He’s [Feldman] an arts and culture writer and a bit of a snob — he kind of looks down on Mindy’s taste. There’s an attraction there, but also a divide between them. She’ll say things, and she has no idea what he’s talking about. [We'll see] how these two people who are very different can get along."
Feldman isn’t the only man to romance Kaling’s character this season. ‘Justified’s Timothy Olyphant will portray a professional skateboarder -- in his 40s -- who almost runs Mindy over in New York’s Union Square. If that’s not enough, ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Glenn Howerton will also sweep Dr. Lahiri off her feet by playing Cliff Gilbert, an attorney that meets Mindy in their office building.
What can we take away from all these men? One, Kaling is a lucky lady, and two, it doesn’t look like Pastor Casey (Anders Holm) will be the only man in Mindy’s life for much longer. Ouch.
Check out the Season 2 promo featuring James Franco, who is playing Dr. Leotard -- the man who fills in for Mindy while she is away in Haiti.
