Star of 'The Big Bang Theory' Johnny Galecki may be heading up the most popular comedy on television at CBS, but that doesn't mean the actor is growing complacent.
Deadline reports that Galecki has set up a new project for FOX, marking his first sale as a producer. Entitled 'Here's Your Damn Family,' the series centers on an emotionally stunted thirty-something man still living with his mother. However, his life is thrown for a loop when his mother gets married, bringing a new husband with three teenage children into their happy home.
The pilot was originally written by Ricky Blitt ('Family Guy'), who created the show before moving on to develop it further with long-time friend Galecki. The two previously collaborated on the FOX 2002 comedy 'Becoming Glen,' a pilot starring the actor and written by Blitt which the network passed on. It was later developed into the 2007 series 'The Winner,' replacing Galecki with Rob Corddry. Blitt seems to have a penchant for writing emotionally infantile men, so this new show seems to have some promise.
Galecki joins his fellow 'Big Bang Theory' castmates in series production work. Co-star Jim Parsons is developing a new series 'Prodigies' centering on child geniuses, while Kevin Sussman and John Ross Bowie have several projects in various stages of development, including 'The Second Coming of Rob' at CBS.
