Joe Carroll (James Purefoy), you’re getting another follower and she’s a good one. According to E! Online, the extremely talented Carrie Preston is joining FOX’s thrilling series ‘The Following’ -- as a Joe Carroll “groupie”!
Preston will play Judy, a woman who is all about Joe and doing right by his name and his avid group of murderous followers. Uh oh, it looks like Emma (Valorie Curry) might have some competition on her hands when it comes to being Joe’s most loyal follower. Do I sense a potential catfight? I wouldn’t want to mess with either of these ladies.
For those who don’t know, despite Joe’s “death” last season, he will be back again as the sick murderous man who is out to make Ryan Hardy’s (Kevin Bacon) life dark, miserable and bloody. In addition to Joe’s return, the second season of ‘The Following’ is adding a slew of guest-stars, including ‘90210’ actress Jessica Stroup, who will play Ryan’s niece and a potential love interest for Shawn Ashmore’s Agent Mike Weston.
As if that isn’t exciting enough, Keith Carradine will also pop up on the series as Ryan Hardy’s good friend. In addition, ‘Boss’ actress Connie Nielsen is set to appear as a love interest for Ryan. Now, that doesn’t sound good for Natalie Zea’s character Claire Matthews who was Ryan’s love interest last season. As we all know, the first season didn’t end on a good note for both Ryan and Claire. One question remains: will Claire make it out alive?
This show just keeps getting darker -- and I love it.
Do you think Preston will do justice as a loyal Joe Carroll follower? If her roles on ‘True Blood’ and ‘The Good Wife’ prove anything, it’s that Preston is one fabulous actress who can pull of any character.
‘The Following’ returns to FOX in January.
