It’s been said that Dr. Jeremy Reed’s -- played by handsome British actor Ed Weeks -- father would be making an appearance during Season 2 of ‘The Mindy Project.’ Well, Weeks revealed moments ago via Twitter that Alan Dale would indeed be playing his TV dad.
According to reports, fans of the hit FOX comedy will see cocky Jeremy as a curvier man, as this season brings a weight gain for the ladies man. Well, Jeremy’s dad won’t be happy with the extra poundage and will make sure his son knows about it, E! Online reported.
Last Friday, Weeks also spoke with OKMagazine.com and revealed he still didn’t know who would be playing his TV father, “Last time I checked they were still playing around with names. I still don’t know. I’m sure they know, but I still don’t know. It will be a nice surprise. It would be weird if it was my actual dad. That would be scary! I don’t think it will be.”
Obviously, now Weeks knows who’s playing his dad. Dale is no stranger to the TV world, as he’s appeared on ‘Lost,’ ‘Ugly Betty,’ ‘NCIS,' 'Once Upon a Time,' and will appear in Syfy’s ‘Dominion.' Dale is the perfect actor to pull off a critical father who, as Weeks described, is a “very cold, domineering business guy who [Weeks] think[s] doesn’t have a lot of time for Jeremy, who finds him something of a disappointment. Jeremy is a sensitive flower, so you get the impression that the two of them have always had tension.”
The comedy also finds James Franco, Glenn Howerton, Adam Pally, Kris Humphries, Timothy Olyphant and Ben Feldman as guest-stars this season.
‘The Mindy Project’ premieres Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 9:30/8:30c.
