Like all appropriate franchises, a comic book is an eventual necessity, and sometimes, completely evil. So let’s not pretend that Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino of Jersey Shore fame, in his entire overtly obnoxious persona, is not deserving of his very own comic. The Situation is expected to be the main protagonist in an upcoming comic book series. The details of the plot and the overall concept are still under wraps, but The Situation promises it will be something that is readable. “I grew up reading comic books and now I get a chance to star in my own. I can't wait for everyone to see what we are working on,” said Mike Sorrentino in a recent interview.
The Situation will not just be a regular Joe in the new series, but a full-fledged superhero. Fortunately or unfortunately, The Situation is not writing the series itself, and will only remain the “star.” The series will be harnessed by Wizard World, and rumors abound that the series and Mike himself will make an appearance at comic book conventions. I expect big goofy Mike to fit right in at Comic-Con 2012, next to the World of Warcraft booth and thick-black rimmed glasses and unshaven chests of middle aged bearded men.
Here’s to hoping no one buys this drivel and we can go back to getting news about legitimate comic book franchises. Or perhaps the train wreck of a premise can turn into something enthralling. In the meantime, check out Mike Sorrentino doing a lot of nothing on the next season ofJerseyShore.
