Looks like it's going to be one hell of a season! Earlier today, TVGuide debuted an exclusive look at 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5 poster, giving fans something to sink their teeth into before the show's upcoming fall premiere. Showcasing many of our beloved characters in stark black in, Elena (Nina Dobrev) stands out in complete contrast in a sexy, fiery-red (and highly see-through) ensemble with the new tagline reading, "Blood lines are torched. Battle lines are drawn." Did anyone else just get chills?
So what does this tell us? For starters, it doesn't look like doppelgangers Silas (Paul Wesley) or Katherine (Dobrev) will be going anywhere anytime soon. While Katherine adjusts to life as a mortal, Silas will most likely be wreaking all kinds of havoc on the poor citizens of Mystic Falls. And as for Stefan - like the photo portrays, we're afraid our heroic vamp is still locked in his watery grave, serving as only a mere reflection of his shadow self...at least for now.
Tyler and Caroline shippers will be happy to see Michael Trevino's firm placement among the pack once again, with his love (Candice Accola) right by his side. And let's not forget the return of Jeremy (Steven McQueen) and his glorious biceps. You have been missed! Then, of course, there's Bonnie (Kat Graham) now on the other side of the veil, whose true fate has yet to be known.
Meanwhile, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) looks just as smoldering as ever, however, is anyone else concerned that Elena's back is to both brothers? Could this already mean trouble in paradise for the new vampire couple? Perhaps she's going to be leaning more heavily on Matt (Zach Roerig) and his rippling six pack this season. At this point, it's all guesswork because on a show like this - nothing is ever certain.
"This Season we're really going back to what we had in Season 1, which is what sucked everyone in to begin with," Somerhalder recently shared with the site while on the set in Atlanta. "Our director of photography is using light and darkness to paint the imagery of the story, really accentuating it and creating a mood that helps tell our story. This is a dark show."
Well, whatever's in store, it's bound to be a bloody good time!
