Alex Vause was a huge catalyst in the first season of ‘Orange Is the New Black.’ In relation to Piper Chapman, she had a tremendous impact on her life. She was an ex-lover, the woman who got her involved in running drugs, the woman who put her in jail by way of her testimony, her renewed lover, and eventually, the woman who destroyed her engagement with her fiancé Larry.
Because of all this, fans were surprised to learn that Laura Prepon would not be returning for season two of OITNB to continue the role.
Well, there is good and bad news for Alex Vause fans. The good news is that Prepon will return to play Vause next season. The bad news is that, according to BuzzFeed, she will likely only return for one episode next season to resolve her storyline. Netflix, however, has yet to confirm anything regarding Prepon’s status.
Taryn Manning spoke to ETOnline.com about the situation, "Well, there's a book and that character goes to another facility in that book,” Manning said. “I’m not sure what’s going on.”
If this is indeed the case there would be quite a bit to cover in the one episode. Not only is there all the issues to resolve with Piper, but Vause had also began to get involved with Nicky Nichols (Natasha Lyonne) toward the end of the first season. Maybe crotchety Sam Healy (Michael Harney) finds a way to get rid of Vause.
Do you think it will change the show’s dynamic with Vause exiting next season? Are you happy that the character will at least have an on-screen resolution?
