Christine Baranski Set to Return to 'The Big Bang Theory'

Christine Baranski hugs her TV son Johnny Galecki

Season 6 is going to start off with a bang! TVLine has learned that Christine Baranski has just signed on to reprise her role as Leonard's emotionally-stilted-yet-extremely-brilliant mother, Beverly, in an early Season 6 episode of 'The Big Bang Theory.'

Baranski's character has been MIA from the popular CBS series for almost a year now, having only appeared during the show's Season 5 premiere last year, when she was showcased via Skype to offer Leonard some motherly advice on his Penny vs. Priya situation. (You know, because relationship advice is right up her alley).

So when can we be expecting Mommy Dearest? She's scheduled to make her return via Skype again on the show's Oct. 10 episode. Sadly, in-person appearances are nearly impossible with her 'Good Wife' duties all the way on the East Coast. But any form of Baranski is better than none, so we'll take what we can get!

The reason behind her return remains unclear. However, given what we know about her close relationship with Sheldon, it may not be Leonard she wants to talk to. Personally, I'm hoping we'll see a little interaction between her and Penny. Their scenes together are always hilarious (and usually involve alcohol). Bazinga!

Be sure to tune in for back-to-back new episodes of 'The Big Bang Theory' for its Season 6 premiere on Thursday, Sept. 26 starting at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
