‘NCIS’ fans have been waiting for this moment and here it is. TVLine has exclusively reported actress Emily Wickersham will potentially succeed (let’s not use the word “replace,” as no one can ever replace Cote de Pablo) Ziva David on the hit CBS series.
Recognized for playing A.J.’s girlfriend Rhiannon on HBO’s hit drama ‘The Sopranos,’ Wickersham is now portraying Kate Millwright on FX’s ‘The Bridge.’ Well, she’ll also be joining ‘NCIS’ for three-episodes, which could possibly turn into a series regular role.
She’ll play newbie NCIS Agent Bishop who is described as “bright, educated, athletic, attractive, fresh-faced, focused and somewhat socially awkward.” Bishop is also said to have “a mysterious mixture of analytic brilliance, fierce determination and idealism. She’s traveled extensively, but only feels comfortable at home.”
The casting deal can be seen as a “trial run,” to ensure Wickersham is a good fit. You can expect her to make her debut during November sweeps.
Before she joins the team, the show will “rotate some fun people” throughout NCIS. As executive producer Gary Glasberg told TVLine, “The first two episodes are all about Ziva’s departure. And then in the third episode we [begin to] introduce some different characters. And then, hopefully, when people are comfortable enough, one will walk in and be The One.”
Do you think Wickersham will fit in with Gibbs, McGee, Tony, Abby, Ducky, Palmer and Vance?
‘NCIS’ Season 11 premieres next Tuesday at 8/7c on CBS.
