What would Ryan Lochte do? There are many answers to that question, but apparently one of them is not "star in more than one season of his E! reality series." The butt of constant jokes since its debut (many by fellow E! program 'The Soup,') 'WWRLD's premiere was heavily hyped up by the network, but couldn't even draw in a million viewers. That's really bad, even for basic cable. The numbers only got worse with each consecutive week, with the May finale bringing in just over 300,000 viewers.
During the show's run, Lochte himself (and his catchphrase "Jeah!") became national laughing stocks. While the show's producers certainly could have edited the show to make it seem this way, each episode made Lochte appear to be as dumb as the proverbial box of rocks. Almost every action taken by Lochte served to reinforce the "dumb jock" stereotype, and further the impression that Ryan had an IQ somewhere between Forrest Gump and a trout. All things considered, this cancellation is probably for the best. He's still young, and he still has plenty of time to rehab his public image and continue in show business if he so desires. Or he could just go back to athletics, which appear to be his real calling in life.
While 'What Would Ryan Lochte Do?' may be gone from our TV screens, its legacy can still live on. The next time you're in a tough situation, ask yourself, what would Ryan Lochte do? The answer may surprise you.
