Probie, we might have another ‘NCIS’ series on our hands. Despite the failing of ‘NCIS: Red,’ it looks like CBS is prepping for another spin-off, and this time it will be produced by ‘NCIS’ leading man Mark Harmon and the show’s executive producer Gary Glasberg, Deadline has exclusively reported.
The planted spin-off series will focus on the NCIS New Orleans office that handles cases from Pensacola through Mississippi and Louisiana to the Texas panhandle. The potential new drama is said to come to light in a two-part ‘NCIS’ episode, which will shoot in February and air in the spring.
Not only will the drama be executive produced by both Harmon and Glasberg, it will also be written by Glasberg and produced by CBS Studios.
So, why the New Orleans setting? As Deadline reports, the Big Easy was chosen for “its pedigree of a rich setting of music, fun and debauchery that makes it a magnet for military personnel on-leave. And with fun comes trouble.”
As ‘NCIS’ fans know, this isn’t the first spin-off to stem from the long-running CBS drama. First, we have the hit ‘NCIS: Los Angeles,’ starring Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J. Then, we have ‘NCIS: Red,’ which starred John Corbett and Kim Raver. The show barely got a running start before CBS gave it a thumbs down.
Would you tune into another ‘NCIS’ series? For me, I’m a huge ‘NCIS’ and Harmon fan, so you can definitely count me in!
‘NCIS’ Season 11 premieres tomorrow at 8/7c on CBS.
