'The Mindy Project' is expanding once again. Leading lady Mindy Kaling revealed another addition to the already-long list of celebrity guest-stars to appear on her show, 'The Mindy Project.' According to US Weekly, reality TV star (and former Playboy Playmate) Kendra Wilkinson will join the cast sometime later this season.
Kaling made the announcement at the post-Emmys Governors Ball on Sunday, Sept. 22., telling the magazine that, "[It's a] funny little part and my friend Jeremy [Bronson] wrote [it]," adding, "A really funny script and she's in it!"
Kaling's excitement over Wilkinson's appearance comes as no surprise for fans of the show. In last season's "Santa Fe" episode, viewers discovered that Kaling's character, Dr. Mindy Lahiri, had apparently sent a tweet to Wilkinson's husband, Hank Bassett, citing that he and Wilkinson had a "beautiful relationship."
Wilkinson is most known for starring in reality TV shows, including 'The Girls Next Door' and 'Kendra on Top,' and appearing as herself on 'Robot Chicken' and 'Curb Your Enthusiasm.' Her role on 'The Mindy Project' will be a different one: a source told US Weekly that Wilkinson will be playing a character and that Wilkinson is "so excited!"
In addition to Wilkinson, fans have already seen James Franco strut his stuff on the hit FOX comedy, but they can also look forward to Kris Humphries, Timothy Olyphant, Ben Feldman, Alan Dale and Glenn Howerton to pop up at some point. Also, 'Happy Endings' fans will see Adam Pally
make his series regular debut on October 1.
'The Mindy Project' airs Tuesdays at 9:30/8:30c on FOX.
