Bryan Cranston may be turning in his Heisenberg hat for good on this Sunday's 'Breaking Bad' finale (*insert hysterical crying here*), but this iconic actor's career is far from over. In fact, he's already got another TV gig lined up. CBS announced this afternoon that Cranston will be cooking up some meth trouble on the set of 'How I Met Your Mother' by reprising his role as Ted’s former boss Hammond Druthers.
"CASTING NEWS: @BryanCranston returns to #HIMYM later this fall as Hammond Druthers," the network tweeted on Wednesday, along with the clever hashtag #BreakingMOTHER.
Cranston last appeared on the series in Season 2 as the arrogant architect that made life a little less pleasant for poor Ted. Between Lily stealing his Pete Rose baseball (aka our first glimpse at the Heisenberg temper) and Ted firing him right in the middle of a heart attack, Cranston's return should make for an interesting sub-plot during the series' final season.
And while this news can't even begin to fill the inevitable void 'Breaking Bad' is sure to leave with its impending departure, Cranston's arrival will make for a much-need consolation prize. At this point, we'll take any form that we can get of "the one who knocks."
