Nathan Lane will co-star with Brendan Gleeson in HBO’s ‘The Money.’ The show will be written and produced by David Milch (‘NYPD Blue,’ ‘Deadwood,’ ‘Luck’). Justin Chadwick, who directed the min-series ‘Bleak House,’ will direct the pilot.
At the center of the show is mogul James Castman (Gleeson), the owner of a media empire who uses his power to influence others. Nathan Lane will play foil to the Castman character. As Gordon McCarren, he is a reporter with his job in peril. He does his best to survive by digging for the next great news story.
Lane has won multiple awards for film, television, and theatre. Recently, he received two Emmy nominations for outstanding guest actor for both drama and comedy for ‘The Good Wife’ and ‘Modern Family.’
The casting of Lane alongside Gleeson puts two very strong actors holding the show’s reigns. With David Milch’s writing, HBO’s ‘The Money’ could feature some memorable scenes involving the two actors.
The show will be yet another attempt for Milch to find footing with HBO. ‘Deadwood,’ the critically acclaimed western-drama starring Timothy Olyphant and Ian McShane, was abruptly cancelled after three seasons. ‘Luck,’ the drama looking at the gritty side of thoroughbred horse racing, was cancelled during its second season due to the accidental deaths of horses on set.
Are you looking forward to ‘The Money’? Do you think Nathan Lane and Brendan Gleeson fit well together?
