‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ debuted last week to solid ratings, up 24 percent over the numbers for last season’s ‘Ben & Kate.’ Still, the numbers were a bit of a disappointment given strong early reviews of the show from different critics. The viewership may steadily grow, however, as the series features different guest stars throughout the season.
Fred Armisen made a brief appearance in the premiere. Other guest stars for the season include: Andy Richter, Kid Cudi Mary Elizabeth Ellis, and Dean Winters.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Patton Oswalt will also make a guest star appearance this season. He will play Fire Marshall Boone, a character who has had previous conflicts with Det. Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg). Peralta runs into Boone while on scene investigating a suspicious fire.
Oswalt has had a steady career in comedy on television. Best known on TV for playing Spence on ‘King of Queens,’ he has also made several guest appearances on various shows. He appeared in ten episodes of ‘Reno 911,’ playing different characters. He also appeared on ‘Parks & Recreation’ improving a filibuster speech. The unedited improv lasted for about nine minutes.
As a stand-up, Oswalt is known for his broad range of material which includes everything from pop culture to comic books to politics.
Often Oswalt plays characters on the nerdy side, so we will have to see how he fills the role of Fire Marshall.
