Talk about a blast from the (semi)past! 'Criminal Minds' fans will be happy to hear that special agent Emily Prentiss, played by Paget Brewster, is coming back to the BAU team for the series' 200th episode.
CBS officially announced in a statement earlier today that actress — who exited the crime drama during last year's seventh season — would be reprising her role as Agent Prentiss for this very special milestone. “Our 200th episode is going to be a special show,” executive producer Erica Messer said in a release. “We can’t imagine telling this story without Paget being present.”
Rumblings about Brewster’s possible comeback started earlier this month when the actress tweeted a picture of her 'Criminal Minds' makeup kit, seemingly from the set. Lucky for us, that turned out to be the case!
Airing in February 2014, the episode will offer glimpses into the past and shred some light onto what happened to JJ Jareau (A.J. Cook) during her year away from the BAU. It will also prove helpful in the team’s efforts to solve a present day case. But regardless of the plot, we're thrilled to hear Brewster will get to be part of the team again...even if it's only for an episode (though we sure wouldn't complain if she decided to stay).
Since her departure, Brewster has managed to keep herself busy guest-starring on shows such as 'Law & Order: SVU' and 'Modern Family.' She also appeared in the ABC pilot 'Spy' (which failed to make this TV season's schedule).
