ABC Teases Nick Fury Appearance in 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Episode 2
Various social media over the last couple of days have hinted that a cameo will come toward the very end of episode two of ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ when it airs on Tuesday night. More specifically, it may be a brief cameo featuring Nick Fury. In ‘The Avengers’ and some of its related movies, Samuel L. Jackson played Fury.
Entertainment Weekly pieced together a few social media teases. Clark Gregg, who stars as Coulson, tweeted:
“Just finished setting my dvd [sic] to record episode #2 of #agentsofSHIELD. All of it. Credits and all.”
Ryan Penagos, the Executive Director of Marvel’s Digital Media, also tweeted:
“For tomorrow's episode of @Marvel's #AgentsofSHIELD, make sure you stay tuned until the end, proper Marvel style.”
But the indication that the surprise at the end of the show may be Nick Fury came yesterday. ABC posted on their Facebook page: “Be sure to stay until the end of the credits on Tuesday. In true Marvel fashion, you never know what might happen.” With the comment they posted this video, which at the very end has the eagle logo complete with eye-patch.
In an Associated Press interview in July, Jackson said he was surprised he wasn’t involved in the TV series. Joss Whedon responded by saying, “We would love to have Sam in the house. If we could work it out, we'd do it in a heartbeat. He's Sam. What are we, new?”
The premiere established the series as having a similar tone to ‘The Avengers’ movie, but also one that established a stand-alone set of characters. Still, it is very likely that we will see familiar heroes now and then as the series moves forward.
Would you like to see Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury for the second episode?
