It looks like 'Covert Affairs' isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The USA Network has just announced its decision to renew the one-hour espionage drama for a fifth season with a 16-episode order, set to debut sometime in Summer 2014. It just goes to show that a spy's work is never done.
“No other series on television travels the globe to tell a story like 'Covert Affairs,' and we are pleased to bring it back for another season” the USA president Chris McCumber said in a statement. “With its intricate storytelling, diverse characters and authentic locations, the series continues to be a cornerstone in our line-up of USA’s original signature dramas.”
This exciting news comes mere weeks before the show returns for the final six episodes of its fourth season arc. The first ten episodes were aired during the series' summer run. But 'Covert Affairs' — which follows the life of CIA recruit Annie Walker (starring Piper Perabo) — is just the latest of USA’s summer series to earn a renewal for another season.
Freshman drama 'Graceland' was recently given the go ahead for a second season while 'Royal Pains' was given the greenlight for a sixth season as part of last year's two-season pick up. 'Suits' is also set to return for the back-half of its third season in early 2014, however, the fate of 'Necessary Roughness,' has yet to be determined.
