Look out Mystic Falls — someone new is coming your way. According to Deadline, Michael Malarkey has been cast in a multiple-episode arc on 'The Vampire Diaries,' where he'll serve as a significant blast from one of our beloved vamp's past. So who's he come to see? Why none other than Damon Salvatore!
Malarkey will portray the character Enzo, a charismatic but tortured figure from Damon’s past who arrives in Mystic Falls desperate to reconnect with his old friend...and undoubtedly stir up a little trouble along the way. (This is 'TVD' we're talking about, after all.) Oh, and surprise, surprise — he's super attractive.
There's no word yet on what exactly brings Enzo into town, however, knowing the series like we do, it seems unlikely that it's just for a quick bite to eat (ha!) and a friendly stroll down memory lane. And if he's a friend of Damon's, chances are he's a bit of a bad boy. (No complaints here, though!)
Malarkey already has somewhat of a history with The CW. He was cast as the male lead in 'The Selection' pilot, however, the drama failed to get picked up this past season by the network. Regardless, they must have been impressed by Malarkey's work to bring him into the popular 'TVD' fold — and we're more than happy to have him. His first episode airs on Dec. 5 of this year.
But he won't be the only one stirring up the past this fall. Janina Gavankar has been cast as Stefan's (or is it Silas?) ex and will make her first appearance on the show next week. Get ready for some drama, people!
What do you think about this latest casting news? What do you think Enzo wants with Damon? How did they meet each other? And, most importantly, who should we start shipping him with? Sound off on your thoughts in the comments below!
'The Vampire Diaries' airs on Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW.
