From Nickelodeon to MTV, Victoria Justice continues to grow and mature on the small screen.
The 20-year-old actress has been picked to star in a new drama on MTV, one that should see the actress take on a more serious tone and sensibility.
‘Eye Candy’ has been described by the network as a ‘cyber drama’ featuring Justice in the lead role as a talented hacker with a penchant for Julian Assange-esque revelations. She is the good guy though, and the justice she serves (pardon the pun) makes her an online target. Death and deceit creep into her world, and the young and beautiful Lindy will team up with cyber-crime experts to win the day.
Any drama, and certainly one that involves such peril, marks a decided change for a star that has grown up on television and been a mainstay at Nickelodeon for some time. She starred on the teen comedy series ‘Zoey 101’ from 2005-2008, and returned in 2010 for the series ‘Victorious,' which has just wrapped.
Justice also starred in the Nickelodeon feature ‘Fun Size,’ about babysitting antics on Halloween night.
Based on a novel by R.L. Stine, the ‘Goosebumps’ author of fame, ‘Eye Candy’ will take place in New York City and certainly include some more adult themes. ‘Twilight’ director Catherine Hardwick will helm the project alongside executive producer Jason Blum, who has worked on many feature horror films, including ‘Paranormal Activity’ and ‘Insidious.’ Also on board as EPs are Emmy Grinwis, Yvonne Barnard, and Beth Elise Hawk.
So what we have for now is Nickelodeon meets 'Twilight' meets 'Goosebumps' meets found-footage horror; or something like that.
