Here’s some good news for ‘Fringe’ fans. Talented actor Seth Gabel is coming back to the small screen in a lead role, and this time around he’ll be starring in WGN America’s first ever scripted series, ‘Salem,’ Deadline recently reported.
Gabel will play Cotton Mather, “a local aristocrat who oversees the witch hunts.” Gabel’s last “major” TV role was as The Count in CW’s ‘Arrow.’ He played the role beautifully, but doesn’t he always? If Gabel’s past acting experiences (‘Dirty Sexy Money,’ ‘Nip/Tuck’) say anything, it’s that he’s one actor who can truly pull of any role, so he’ll probably fit right in at ‘Salem.’
The new series is set in 17th century Massachusetts, and it will focus on what fueled the Salem witch trials. It sounds like it will be full of witchy goodness. Gabel isn’t the only one set to star in the bewitching show. ‘Revenge’ alum Ashley Madekwe will also star as Tituba, the right-hand -- and ageless -- beauty to Salem’s most powerful witch Mary Sibley.
Produced by Brannon Braga (‘Terra Nova,’ ‘Star Trek: Voyager') and Adam Simon (‘The Haunting in Connecticut’), ‘Salem’ should do well, especially with help from Gabel. In my opinion, he can do no wrong.
‘Salem’ is slated for 13 episodes. Will you tune into the new series?
