Mira Sorvino Joins 'Falling Skies'

TNT's alien invasion drama 'Falling Skies' has been a massive hit for the network, regularly earning some of the best summer demos in all of cable. The show is gearing up for its fourth season in 2014, and has wisely added another heavy hitter to its more than capable cast. Oscar and Golden Globe winning actress Mira Sorvino is now set to join the ranks of the 2nd Mass.

As originally reported by Deadline, Sorvino will play a character named Sara, who worked as a graphic designer before the Espheni invasion. The formerly buttoned up woman now finds herself in danger of death on a daily basis, yet she has never felt more alive and free of fear. Sara joins the 2nd Mass after a random encounter with the group's resident badass anti-hero John Pope (Colin Cunningham). The two quickly become inseperable, and form a deeply personal bond. Whether their relationship will be of a romantic nature is as yet unclear.

Sorvino first burst onto the Hollywood scene in 1995's 'Mighty Aphrodite.' The Woody Allen film was a critical darling, and earned Mira her aforementioned awards. She's been acting steadily in television and film ever since, and now adds 'Falling Skies' to her lengthy resume.' The Steven Speilberg produced series debuted in the summer of 2011 to big ratings, and has never looked back.

The fourth season of 'Falling Skies' premieres on TNT next summer, likely in June.

I hope they're hiring new writers along with new actors as the last season was a train wreck.
