Another familiar face is joining ABC’s new drama ‘Once Upon a Time in Wonderland,’ and it is none other than actress and TV talk show host Whoopi Goldberg.
Yesterday evening, TVLine broke the news reporting that ‘The View’ co-host would be joining the ‘Once Upon a Time’ spin-off as Mrs. Rabbit aka wife to John Lithgow’s the White Rabbit.
Now, Goldberg won’t appear as herself in the series -- obviously -- but she’ll be providing the voice for Mrs. Rabbit. She is slated to appear in the freshman drama’s eighth episode, which tells the White Rabbit’s story via flashback. Do you think Mrs. Rabbit’s the one who made sure her husband was never late for a very important date?
Voicing a character comes naturally for Goldberg, as she’s provided the voices of several animated characters, including Stretch in ‘Toy Story 3’ and Shenzi the hyena in ‘The Lion King.’
‘Wonderland’s executive producer and co-creator Adam Horowitz isn’t holding back his enthusiasm for the addition of Goldberg, which he recently expressed via Twitter, “Thrilled to welcome @WhoopiGoldberg to the @WonderlandOUAT family! #honored.”
The Oscar-winning actress isn’t the only one bringing to life a character in Wonderland. Musician Iggy Pop vocalizes the caterpillar, while veteran actor Keith David voices the Cheshire Cat.
Are you excited to see Goldberg’s voice talents on the ABC series?
‘Once Upon a Time in Wonderland’ airs Thursdays at 8/7c.
