WATCH: Two New Teasers from Season 2 of 'The Following'
FOX has started to heat up its marketing campaign for Season 2 of its serial killer drama 'The Following.' The show's first season ended with the lead serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) apparently dying in a lighthouse explosion, while FBI agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) was attacked by one of his minions -- who also stabbed Claire (Natalie Zea) -- Carroll's ex-wife and Hardy's love interest.
Two new promos for the show's second season have been released, and they seem to hint that Claire didn't survive Season 1's cliffhanger. The first promo sees Ryan brooding about the pain that Carroll caused him. The search for Carroll took "everything and everyone" from him, he remarks, and the camera flashes to a photo of Claire. Now he wants revenge, he says.
Hardy's certainty that Carroll is still alive is pervasive in both trailers, but mostly in the second -- in which he broods that the devil's greatest trick was "convincing you he didn't exist." That's something Carroll appears to have done with his apparently faked death -- especially since the teaser reveals a bearded Carroll, very much alive.
You can watch both teasers -- titled "Round Two" and "Exist" below. Like the poster released yesterday, both indicate that the premiere will be in January, not the previously announced Feb. 18.
What do you think about these trailers? Do you think Claire is dead? 'The Following' Season 2 will premiere on FOX in January.
