The CBS hit drama ‘NCIS’ is known for bringing back past guest-stars for more episodes, like Robert Wagner and Ralph Waite. Well, Bryce Johnson is making his pretty little return to the Navy series.
Today, the ‘Pretty Little Liars’ alum revealed the news via his Twitter account, “Back on set shooting #NCIS ! Amazing #CastAndCrew. I'll keep you posted on an air date!”
For those ‘NCIS’ fans who don’t recall, or those who don’t watch the show, Johnson made his first appearance in ‘NCIS’ Season 7, during the episode titled “Mother’s Day.” The emotional episode featured Gena Rowlands as Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) mother-in-law. The episode told the story of Rowlands’ character, Joann Fielding, seeking revenge on the Reynosa Cartel aka the Mexican drug cartel who killed her daughter and granddaughter (Gibbs’ wife and daughter).
Despite appearing for only a few minutes in the episode, Johnson played Navy Lieutenant David Shankton. Not only did Joann frame Johnson’s character for the murder of her fiance (who Joann actually killed, since he was working with the Reynosa Cartel), his character also worked alongside Joann’s fiance helping the cartel smuggle drugs into the country.
So far, no details have been released regarding Johnson’s ‘NCIS’ return, however, I assume he will pop up as the same character. It will be interesting to see how Johnson plays into a future episode.
What are your thoughts? If Johnson’s returning as David Shankton, why do you think he’s returning? Let us hear your thoughts!
‘NCIS’ airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on CBS.
UPDATE: Johnson has since removed his tweet. After reaching out to his publicist, he cannot comment on his 'NCIS' return.
