After delaying the series premiere to Sunday, Nov. 17, FOX has decided to try and keep the anticipation level for its new sci-fi cop drama 'Almost Human' on the high end of the spectrum. The network has now released the first eight minutes of the premiere episode online, specifically on Hulu.
Starring Karl Urban ('Star Trek,' 'Dredd') and Michael Ealy ('FlashForward,' 'Common Law'), 'Almost Human' comes to us from the mind of former 'Fringe' showrunner J.H. Wyman. The story is set 35 years in the future, and concerns the mandatory partnering of human Los Angeles police officers with advanced human-like androids. Urban plays the human cop, John Kennex. Ealy portrays his new android partner, Dorian. Kennex doesn't trust robots, and is not happy about his new assignment.
Rounding out the cast is Lili Taylor ('Six Feet Under'), Mackenzie Crook ('The Office' U.K.), Michael Irby ('The Unit'), and former Derek Jeter squeeze Minka Kelly ('Friday Night Lights'). Serving alongside Wyman as executive producers are prolific 'Bad Robot' impresarios J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk. 'Almost Human' will be the company's third series to air on FOX, after the recently ended 'Fringe' and the short-lived 'Alcatraz.'
You can view the first eight minutes of 'Almost Human' by clicking here. I'm interested in checking out the series, although it does kind of sound like what would happen if 'Robocop' and 'Alien Nation' had a baby. For what it's worth, our own Sam McPherson did an advance review of the pilot a few months back, and was quite pleased with it. Will you be watching?
