After three glorious seasons, the British period drama ‘Downton Abbey’ is back for its fourth season this January. PBS recently released a teaser trailer for the upcoming season, and it’s full of grief, romance, dancing, and of course, scandal.
If you can’t recall (though I don’t know how you could forget that heartbreaking and gasp-filled Season 3 finale), last season left viewers wondering how Mary and her son would get along, now that her husband Matthew is dead (it will always hurt to say that).
Not only does the following trailer showcase Mary’s grief, in addition to Violet giving her granddaughter some advice, “You have a straightforward choice before you. You must choose either death or life,” but the trailer also shows that “after darkness, there is light.”
Here’s what else you can expect from the teaser video:
-Anna saying, “He’s not an orphan. He’s got his mother.” -Edith getting some action and noting, “It’s getting harder and harder to say no.” -Rose causing what will certainly be considered scandal. She's seen dancing with Jack (played by Gary Carr), a black jazz musician. Who else senses romance? -A handsome man approaching Mary. -Tom with baby Sybil, who’s growing up fast.
Check out the 30-second trailer below. Are you ready for ‘Downton Abbey’s return? The award-winning series comes back Sunday, Jan. 5 at 9/8c.
