It looks like Shane Coffey is going to have one busy schedule, since he’s been cast as the lead in one of USA’s newest greenlighted drama pilots, Deadline exclusively reports.
The pilot, titled ‘The Novice,’ written by ‘Hell on Wheels’ creators Joe and Tony Gayton, focuses on Kyle (Coffey), who is described as “a charming and highly intelligent recent college graduate who is forced to move back home with his parents and siblings when his job search stalls.” Kyle’s life becomes quite interesting and thrilling “after a strange quirk of fate proves oddly fortuitous, [and] he lands a position with a Korean crime organization.”
This isn’t the first time Coffey’s popped up on the small screen. ABC Family and ‘Pretty Little Liars’ fans recognize him as Holden aka the martial arts fighter who was friends with Aria (Lucy Hale). I have a feeling those fighting skills will come in handy during ‘The Novice.’
In addition to ‘PLL,’ Coffey’s also guest-starred on ‘Perception’ as the younger version of Eric McCormack’s Daniel Pierce. Most recently, he showed off his musical and violin skills as Tim in The CW’s latest supernatural hit ‘The Originals.’
Do you think Coffey sounds like a good fit? Will you tune in to ‘The Novice’? Sound off in the comments and let us know your thoughts!
