USA had to wait for the cancellation of ‘The Glades’—which happened in late August of this year—before being able to grab Australian actor Matt Passmore as their lead for a pilot.
The untitled pilot comes from Sean Jablonski, executive producer and writer on ‘Nip/Tuck’ and ‘Suits.’ Passmore will play the lead, Neil Truman, an investment banker who quits his job to focus on his relationship after discovering that his wife, Grace, has been seeing a male escort. Neil accidentally obtains the escort’s phone. He starts to gain a new perspective when it comes to life and women. Grace must also then decide if it is worth going to great lengths to salvage the marriage.
When a slate of drama pilots, including this one, were picked up this year, USA president Chris McCumber talked about USA’s future, "These pilots illustrate our continued commitment to creating the next evolution of powerful original dramas for which USA is well known."
USA’s other new dramas include ‘Complications’ from Matt Nix, ‘The Novice’ from Joe and Tony Gayton of ‘Hell on Wheels,’ and ‘Rush’ from Jonathan Levine. Shane Coffey was just cast as the lead for ‘The Novice.’
This is a nice quick bounce back for Passmore, as ‘The Glades’ got cancelled by A&E just as it seemed to be picking up steam.
Do you think this is a suitable new role for Passmore?
