The Real Housewives of New Jersey kicks off its fourth season tonight and based on how last season ended, it’s got all the right “ingredientses,” as Teresa Giudice would put it, for a disaster.
Last season ended with an explosive reunion special in which Teresa took much of the heat due to accusations ranging from her attempting to alienate family members to calling out her catty comments that were made in her latest cookbook, “Fabulicious.” Even Bravo head honcho Andy Cohen took an offensive stance towards Teresa, pointing out some discrepancies in her explanation about her husband’s legal and financial issues. Former Teresa advocate and New Jersey housewife matriarch Caroline Manzo had had enough calling Teresa a “whirlwind of stupid” and pretty much washing her hands of the situation.
Missing from the third season reunion was Jacqueline Laurita, whose absence will be explained in the first episode of tonight’s fourth season premiere. Also this season, Jacqueline’s troubled, and often selfish, daughter, Ashley continues to push the limits, perhaps finally a bit too far, because Jacqueline and husband Chris deliver an unexpected ultimatum.
The rest of the New Jersey housewives return this season as well, with their own stories to tell. Caroline continues to attempt to help daughter Lauren wrestle with her weight issues, while helping to plan her brother’s wedding. Melissa Gorga works to build her music career, working with renowned choreographer Criss Judd to improve her act. Kathy Wakile will have to deal with her son’s raging teenage hormones when she discovers he has been sent nude pictures by a classmate. Then there’s Teresa. It seems that there isn’t a housewife amongst the cast that won’t deal with some sort of conflict with Teresa this season, hence the heated season 3 reunion, which was taped after the filming of season 4.
One thing is for certain: Season 4 of the Real Housewives of New Jersey promises to deliver lots of drama. With trips to the Jersey Shore and to Napa Valley, the ladies of New Jersey will have plenty of “quality time” lay it all out on the table and if the previews for season 4 are any indication, none of them are willing to just “forget about it.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey premieres tonight on Bravo at 10/9c.
