It’s official ‘The Vampire Diaries’ fans! Michael Trevino is the first ‘TVD’ actor that will crossover to The CW’s other fangtastic drama and spin-off ‘The Originals.’
Despite the saddening, but expected, break-up between hybrid Tyler (Trevino) and vampire Caroline (Candice Accola) in the Oct. 31 episode, Tyler is pleasing some fans by heading to New Orleans to pay a visit to fan favorite/big bad Klaus (Joseph Morgan).
Trevino exclusively confirmed the news with EW.com, but an official date has not been set for the crossover. As Trevino told the entertainment news site, it will be “sometime soon.” Other details have not been revealed, like how long Tyler will inhabit the Big Easy with Klaus, his siblings, Rebekah (Claire Holt) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies), and fellow werewolf Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin).
This really should come as no surprise, as Tyler revealed to Caroline that he needed to get revenge on Klaus for his mother’s death. It was heartbreaking to see Caroline beg Tyler to love her more than he hates Klaus, and it wasn’t easy on the actors either.
”It was actually really tough on both of us,” Trevino revealed to EW.com. “In these scenes where Caroline and Tyler are going their separate ways, it’s usually that one of us is emotional and one isn’t. On this one, both of us were emotional. There were a few more takes than how it regularly goes between Candice and I.”
Trevino also added, ”A lot of fans are upset that Tyler has made the decision to leave as soon as he shows up. I’m getting a little bit of flack for it on the Twitterverse here. I just want to say everything will be explained, and I think Tyler will make it good once he shows up to ‘The Originals’…. I think everybody will be happy with Tyler’s reasoning when they see what he’s been up to and what he has planned.”
Tyler can definitely hold his own, but Klaus is one ruthless hybrid, and as Trevino said, “Tyler’s been dealing with Klaus for a few seasons now, and it’s always a scary feeling. But you’ve got to think at this point, because Klaus is so powerful, that he kinda maybe deep down inside likes Tyler and likes messing around with him because it gives him something to do. Klaus is just so powerful, I figure he doesn’t want to be bored all the time. If he had Tyler hunting him every now and then, a part of him might like that a little bit.”
Who doesn’t want to see a showdown between Tyler and Klaus? It’s been bound to happen sooner rather than later, especially since Klaus developed feelings for Caroline and ran Tyler out of Mystic Falls.
Are you excited to see Tyler head to New Orleans? Do you think he’ll be able to handle Klaus? Let us hear your thoughts!
‘The Originals’ airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
