Brace yourselves, horror fans, because it looks like 'American Horror Story' will live to terrify us once again! FX announced earlier today that the spooky smash hit will definitely be returning for a fourth installment in late 2014. Sure, many of us assumed the thriller series would be back, but now we can all sleep with one eye open soundly, knowing another 13 episodes are officially headed our way.
While there aren't any details yet regarding the new plot of the series — which changes its story and setting every year — executive producer Ryan Murphy has said he may drop a hint in the show's final episode of 'Coven,' which will cast its last spell on Wednesday, Jan. 29. But until then, fans still have nine full episodes of Season 3 left to enjoy.
And though we already know 'AHS' grande dame, Jessica Lange — who currently plays Supreme witch, Fiona Goode on 'Coven' — plans to return for her fourth (and potentially final) season, other cast information is yet to be known. However, based on past seasons, it will probably include a nice combination of familiar faces and fresh blood (which, on this show, can be taken quite literally).
Are you excited that a fourth season is officially underway? What ideas do you have for 'AHS' 4.0? Which favorite actors are you hoping to see return next year? Sound off on your thoughts and predictions in the comments below!
'American Horror Story' airs on Wednesdays at 10/9c on FX.
