It looks like Coach is here to stay! At least until the end of Season 3, that is. Damon Wayans Jr. has officially closed a deal with FOX to extend his stay on the 'New Girl' set for the remainder of the season. Whose day just got better?!
The actor had originally signed up for a four-episode comeback arc, which kicked off on Tuesday. So this new promotion should offer a significant increase in his character's on-screen time. But hey, no complaints from this crowd! (At least something good came out of the whole 'Happy Endings' cancellation, amirite? RIP!) However, Wayans will still continue to be billed as a “special guest star.”
As for what the show writers have in store for this returning star, still remains to be seen. But fans can probably expect a lot more bro bonding in the future as well as a few hilarious rounds of True American. (Please?) Either way, it just feels good to welcome Coach back into the fold on at least a semi-permanent basis.
Wayans' other notable TV credits include the aforementioned, unjustly cancelled 'Happy Endings,' 'My Wife and Kids,' and 'The Underground.' He is also currently developing a new comedy project with FOX, titled 'Man/Child,' which centers around a pair of single dads who become roommates and struggle to find the balance between being responsible parents and debaucherous bachelors.
Suffice to say, Wayans is keeping himself pretty busy these days and we're happy to be along for the ride. How do you feel about Coach's extended stay to the show? Hit the comments below and tells us what you think (or face contributing to the douche jar)!
'New Girl' airs on Tuesdays at 9/8c on FOX.
