Looks like A&E is doing some serious feasting with the Wahlbergs. The network announced today that it will premiere 'Wahlburgers' on Jan. 22, a reality show that stars Mark and Donnie Wahlberg, as well as their brother Paul.
The project completes a reality-series trifecta with the Wahlberg clan. Earlier this year the network picked up two other productions from Mark Wahlberg: a teamster reality-series pilot, and a Boston-set six-episode reality series about four female friends struggling to break through their blue-collar surroundings. (Donnie also has another reality show in the works, 'Boston's Finest,' but that will air on TNT.)
'Wahlburgers' will show brothers Mark and Donnie heading back to Boston to make their mark (no pun intended) in the burger business as they join forces with Paul in a hamburger restaurant of the same name.
The show will make it a real family affair by having appearance by the real Johnny “Drama” Alves, Henry “Nacho” Laun, Mark’s chidhood pal Billy Leonard, and family matriarch Alma. Not surpisingly, the ambitious brothers are determined to bring home the bacon; a second location is already planned to open in Toronto in early 2014.
"We're thrilled to partner with the entire Wahlberg family as they graciously lift the curtain to share this new side of their story," said David McKillop, executive vice president and general manager of A&E Network in a press release. "This series offers viewers a new take on the celebrity reality series showcasing one of America's favorite families."
Will that mean we get to see Marky Mark don an apron? Shirtless? Hopefully. I guess we'll have to tune in to find out.
