Patrick Swayze’s ‘Ghost’ Being Remade into TV Series

So, who’s ready for a TV series based on ‘Ghost,’ the hit romance movie from the ‘90s featuring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, Whoopi Goldberg and Tony Goldwyn?

If this has been something you’ve been dreaming about, then get ready to rejoice, because Paramount is currently developing a TV series around the film that made us all bawl like babies, wish we had our very own pottery wheel, and fall in love with “Unchained Melody.”

‘Fringe’ writer Akiva Goldsman (also known for his Oscar-winning film ‘A Beautiful Mind’) is joining forces with ‘Fringe’ and ‘Lost’ producer Jeff Pinkner on the pilot script for Paramount’s TV division.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Akiva and Jeff, two deeply creative and accomplished talents, on the television adaptation of this classic supernatural drama,” said Paramount TV president Amy Powell.

For those who don’t recall, ‘Ghost’ tells the story of Swayze’s character, Sam Wheat, who dies and comes back as a ghost. He then seeks out medium Oda Mae Brown (Goldberg) to help him solve his murder and reconnect with his one true love, Molly (Moore). The film won two Academy Awards -- one for Goldberg as Best Supporting Actress, and another for Best Original Screenplay.

Are you all about ‘Ghost’ as a TV series? Who do you think would make the perfect cast? Let us hear your thoughts!

I agree Murder She Wrote shouldn't be revived, but I think Ghost would make a good TV show! As Molly, I think the girl needs to fit current trends of what is considered pretty, not totally model gorgeous, but yet brings both bounciness and smokiness to their roles... an Ellen Page, Jena Malone or Carey Mulligan. For Sam, roughly handsome yet youthful in spirit and romantic in nature - an Orlando Bloom/Jim Sturgess type. Whoopi should reprise her role as Oda Mae. Her current age doesn't matter. She was a hoot! But maybe Octavia Spencer or Queen Latifah. As Sam's despicable friend, I like the way Tony Goldwyn was handsome yet awful. Ben Foster would be perfect.

I think like Murder she Wrote... some things should stay dead. Leave it alone!
