While there may be a saturation of vampires on television right now, it’s hard not to get excited about Robert Rodriguez’s forthcoming series ‘From Dusk Till Dawn,’ especially as it continues to grow its cast.
The latest addition is Robert Patrick, the journeyman actor perhaps best known for playing a robot in ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day,’ but for some he will always be known as Special Agent John Doggett on the last two years of ‘The X-Files.’
Patrick, who with both the beloved Chris Carter series as well as a recurring role on ‘True Blood’ is no stranger to the supernatural, and will take on the role of Jacob Fuller, a former minister whose family is kidnapped by a pair of maniacal criminals.
The series looks to expand the world of Rodriguez’s hit film of the same name from 1996, one that featured among others George Clooney, Salma Hayek, Harvey Keitel, and Quentin Tarantino. Like the film, the series will follow Seth and Richard Gecko (D.J. Cotrona, Zane Holtz) as they take hostage of the Fuller family before happening upon a Texas strip club that harbors deadly secrets (hint: vampires).
Madison Davenport of ‘Shameless’ and Brandon Soo Hoo, who was recently in ‘Ender’s Game,’ were also recently announced to play the Fuller siblings. They will join shooting in Austin, Texas that has just recently gotten underway. Eiza Gonzalez has also been tapped to play Santanico Pandemonium, the iconic stripper given life by Hayak, best known for given a sultry tease while holding a giant snake before turning into a deadly vampire. Typical.
The 10-episode series is set to air in early 2014 on El Rey, an English-language network set to launch next month by Rodriguez targeting target Latino viewers. ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ will be the network’s first scripted series.
