Well, that didn't take very long. Late last month, the Internet was all abuzz with talk of a possible 'How I Met Your Mother' spin-off — and now CBS has officially ordered a pilot pick-up! Major news right? (Major News Right *salutes*)
Currently titled 'How I Met Your Dad,' the project will be what the network is calling a “kindred spirit” of the original series — except this time it will tell the story of a relationship from a female's point of view. Sorry, Ted...but your story-telling days are almost up. (Bob Saget's going to have to find voiceover work elsewhere, we suppose.)
But don't expect to see the same kids sitting on that (hopefully comfortable) couch — because, really, that would be just plain cruel. In fact, don't expect to see any familiar faces at all. CBS has noted that 'HIMYD' will consist of a brand new storyline made up of completely different characters. So long, Slutty Pumpkin!
The same, however, can't be said of the writing team, which will helm 'HIMYM‘ vets Emily Spivey, Carter Bays, and Craig Thomas to write and executive-produce the potential series. (Challenge accepted!)
Okay readers, let's have it. What do you have to say now that the spin-off is officially a-go? Does it have a shot of being legen — WAIT FOR IT — dary or is it all just a waste of time? Hit the comments below and let us know your thoughts!
'HIMYM' airs on Mondays at 8/7c on CBS.
