WATCH: AMC Releases Alternate 'Breaking Bad' Ending

Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad

What if the one who knocks, never really knocked at all? It's been nearly two months since AMC's 'Breaking Bad' took its final bow, but fans are still grasping to keep the meth-making drama a part of their lives in any way possible. And we do mean any way possible.

But thanks to a recently revealed DVD extra from the 'Breaking Bad: The Complete Series' DVD box set (scheduled to come out Nov. 26), we have a chance to picture a very different kind of fate for Bryan Cranston’s science-savvy antihero, Walter White. Intrigued?

Heavily borrowing from the iconic ending of 'Newhart,' the alternate ending imagines that the entire narrative of the show was nothing more than a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad nightmare experienced by Cranston's other, more comical TV character, Hal from the series 'Malcolm in the Middle.' It's like what Nelly's been singing about all this time — it was only just a dreammmm!

Chock-full of inside jokes along with the appearance of a certain special guest, hardcore 'Bad' enthusiasts will definitely appreciate how it all unfolds, especially the ending. (Hats off to the writers on that one!) Warning: you may also develop a serious craving for some deep fried Twinkies.

Check out the clip below and discover how it all really played out...or so we think. (Also: can we please get this show back on the air ASAP?)

UPDATE:
Sony has since blocked this on YouTube.

The Walking Dead material is always blocked on YT (even 2-3 second clips) until the DVD release of the episode. Then most companies allow the material in short clips on YT.

I think sony is blocking it due to it containing scenes from the final 8 episodes. Usually TV material like that isnt allowed in any way on YT until the DVD release of the material. Money money money first...

It's amazing because YouTube is littered with videos making parallels and cross-references to the two shows, so it's nice to see the idea come to an official fruition. Quite unbelievable that two characters on such opposite ends are portrayed by the same actor. Cranston deserves the praise.

That was brilliant. I love that they even went to the trouble to shoot it, just to have some fun with the fans. And as a guy who watched all seven seasons of Malcolm in the Middle, it was terrific to see Bryan reunited with Jane Kaczmarek on screen.
