Jim Beaver Apologizes for Misleading ‘Supernatural’ Fans About Bobby’s Return

For those ‘Supernatural’ fans who were hoping hunter and father-figure Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver) would be returning to The CW series on a permanent basis (or for at least a few episodes), but were extremely disappointed by his Season 9 return, it seems Beaver feels your pain and heartache.

About five hours ago, Beaver took to his Facebook page to apologize for misleading fans about Bobby’s so-called return. He writes, “Something's been eating at me for a while, and I think I need to say something about it. A while back, I made a big deal out of announcing I was coming back to SUPERNATURAL. It sounded like I was coming back for good or at least as a more frequent guest. That isn't what happened. I came back for an imaginary appearance in the season opener and then disappeared again."

Jim Beaver Apologizes for Misleading ‘Supernatural’ Fans About Bobby’s ReturnHe continues, “It has bothered me ever since that people may have felt misled by my announcement. I just want to apologize to any who felt that way and say that it was not my intention to mislead.”

Like all of us who were “misled” by the announcement that Bobby was returning in an unexpected way, so was Beaver, “The fact is, when I made the announcement, I thought Bobby was indeed coming back this season in a very real sense, and that I would be doing at least a few episodes. I didn't know the season's story line at the time and I figured with the change in Heaven's status, that some way had been found for Bobby to come back. But as it turns out, that wasn't what was planned at all, and had I known, I would have handled that public announcement very differently or not made it at all.”

He goes on to say he “would never deliberately mislead [the] fans unless there [was] a good reason for doing so, such as protecting the surprise of [his] return in season 7.”

In addition to his apology, Beaver also shows his appreciation for the fans, especially since “the beefcake comes in the form of the younger guys on the show.” Yes, we all love our ripped Winchester boys aka Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles), but who doesn't want the beloved Bobby Singer back? The more Bobby, the better.

Beaver also adds he doesn’t “know if or when Bobby will ever return” to ‘Supernatural,’ but he has “little doubt that he'll show up someday in some way.”

Raise your hand if you want Beaver to make his triumphant return (in the flesh, and none of this ghost stuff) to ‘Supernatural’? Do you feel like you were misled by Bobby’s return?

‘Supernatural’ airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on The CW.

I knew he was going to show up once in Season 9 when Sam was dying and Dean help him get better. HOPING! Bobby will show up again but he didn't ALSO Death himself appeared and I was surprised by that. I was wondering if he too will be showing up but noooo. Anyways, It would be awesome to have Bobby back. Somehow he returns. Maybe DEATH can bring him back... he is more powerful like God and older than God, will that I don't know since they both can't remember. Anyways yeah.

Very classy of Jim Beaver to comment on fans being mislead. I firmly believe he was mislead as well by the show's producers/showrunner/ect.,....just as much as we were. Jim is such a talented actor and has always respected the SPN fans. At least HE had the "balls!" to address this situation because it seemed no one else involved with the show ever acknowledged what exactly happened. Here's hoping for a great 10th season, #9 was seriously dissapointing for the most part, IMO.

I was just watching some older episodes of Supernatural...you know...the ones with Bobby in them. Man do I miss him. I hate that the writers killed him off for good. Shame, shame on you. As much as I love the Winchester boys, it just really isn't the same without him. He was such an important part of Sam and Dean's lives. RIP Bobby...I love you and miss you. Here's hoping for a resurrection in Season 10. Please!?!

I love and miss Bobby with all my heart. Please bring him back. And to all the haters out there trying to down grade supernatural, if you hate the show that much, why are here wasting your not so precious time trying to trash them?

I must agree I don't know the reasoning for having Jim Beaver just killed off in the first place but then you say you're going to bring him back but you really don't bring back it's more of a illusion why bring him back at all why you wanna make an announcement that he's coming back I mean it was a joke I mean season 9 had to be the worst season of all of them partly because they took out so much because they didn't have a main character like him the two actors can't do it alone Jim beavers was kind of the anchor taking anything away kill the show and it's not nearly as good to watch and I can't see how the producers and directors can't see that he is a major reason why a lot of people watched it because he was kinda the father figure and made the show much more exciting seeing the two boys all the time without Jim beaver lt seem dull missing something

Supernatural really needs to bring back Bobby for good!! It would also be nice to see Jo, Ellen, Ash, Rufus and The Trickster. I hope this show goes on for many more years!!

It royally sucks Bobby had not come back PERMANENTLY! Supernatural isn't the same without Bobby & its so much much better with Bobby!! While it's still an awesome show, it can & should be much better if they would write a MUCH DELAYED resurrection for Bobby Singer & most fans would agree & the very few that don't are either trolls or don't understand or appreciate the dynamics that Jim Beaver adds to the show as Bobby Singer & the final 1-2% of those fans have the right to their own honest opinions about disagreeing about a possible resurrection mainly because his death an one of their best episode "Death's Door" was so awesome/too perfect of a sendoff to bring him back. Though it could be argued & it is my opinion that the reason it was so awesome is because he was in it & it was focused on him as it was on "Weekend at Bobby's" another one of their best (imho) episodes. Ur a pure donkey mattowhtvrthefck. This phenomenal show just signed on for its 10th that's TENTH season. When was the last time a show that wasn't good or had 0-low ratings lasted more than 0-3yrs? There's been few shows that have gone on for 10yrs & that's because those shows, like this one have ROCKED! So if ur gonna post a smarta$$ comment, don't be dumb about it & come across as if you had the I.Q. of ketchup. Once again this show is at its best with Bobby Singer & THEY NEED TO BRING HIM BACK PERIOD. I don't even care how they bring him back so long as they do it a.s.a.p permanently & they also need to STOP killing off Bobby & Castiel & add a regular hot chick in the mix.

I agree, very classy of him to apologize for possibly misleading his fans. And I still miss surly old Bobby, so yeah, I do hope they bring him back. Although, usually souls aren't very grateful when they get "rescued" from heaven, where he resides since they rescued him from hell last season. So if they did manage to bring him back, he might not be the old Bobby we all know and love... ;)

Wow, Matt, I think it's safe to say you don't like Supernatural or Jim Beaver very much, isn't it? I'm afraid I have to respectfully disagree with you on both counts. Supernatural may not be Sir Lawrence Olivier delivering Hamlet every week but it is a great show. It has a few filler episodes here and there that aren't that great but doesn't every series? As for Jim Beaver being an aging Z-list actor, he's far from that. I've liked him in everything I've had the pleasure of seeing him in and he is quite a nice man off screen as well. I firmly believe that he didn't mean to mislead anyone with his return to SPN announcement. I'm sure he wasn't given the whole story when he was asked to come back for the first episode this season and his happiness about the return which led to the announcement was an honest mistake. I agree 100% with msd that his Facebook post was very classy and something he didn't need to do but wanted to. That one post says more to be about Jim Beaver as a person and an actor than anything else. And Matt, as for the ratings and no one in the known universe watching Supernatural, I think the very loyal fan base the show has might think you're being a bit hasty in that assessment. Matt, you can have your Duck Dynasty. I'll keep my Supernatural, thank you. :-)

THIS SHOW SUCKS SO MUCH BUT SO SO MUCH and I will never understand why someone in the whole universe can get angry because an aging z-list actor is not returning in a ZZZ list series that does 0.0 in the ratings and no one in the known universe watches anymore
