For all those television viewers bemoaning the lack of theme park-related comedies on the small screen, grumble no longer! FOX has put in development ‘Wunderland,’ a comedy written by couple and former amusement park employees Amanda Lund and Matt Gourley, as first reported by Deadline.
Most notably, Lund has starred in the Yahoo! Screen web comedy series ‘Ghost Girls,’ which follows her paranormal investigator Heidi Button embarking on supernatural related hijnks and antics. Both Lund and Gourle have worked on shorts and on the web, with Lund making a few guests appearances on various TV shows, but this will mark their biggest endeavor to date.
They will have some very experienced help though, as Jack Black’s Electric Dynamite will produce, and Diablo Cody will supervise. Black will reunite with Lund on their second project together, as Electric Dynamit produced ‘Ghost Girls.’
Additionally, as it turns out, Cody is quite the theme park and rollercoaster expert (though admittedly, it’s not exactly certain how such a qualification is judged).
She has, to her credit, embraced a hobby of traveling across the U.S. visiting theme parks and exploring the most exciting and exhilarating of rides. And, for what it’s worth, Cody’s husband Dan Maurio proposed to her on a rollercoaster – so perhaps that will be a story line that creeps into this comedy, and maybe it’ll shed light on how one successfully places a ring on another’s finger while inverted or going through a pitch black tunnel.
