Earlier this month, we brought you the news that Jason O'Mara ('Terra Nova,' 'Life on Mars,' Vegas') would be playing the lead in a new USA medical drama pilot called 'Complications.' Today, we have a casting update to deliver, involving one new actor and three new actresses.
First, a little background on the show itself. O'Mara plays John Ellis, a jaded ER doctor who makes the fateful decision to intervene in a drive-by shooting, saving the life of a young boy, and taking the life of one of the perpetrators. Ellis soon finds that no good deed goes unpunished however, as the criminals behind the shooting still want the boy dead at any cost. The formerly disillusioned doctor now finds himself faced with not only the responsibility of treating patients, but with keeping alive the boy that he now feels obligated to protect. The series is created and produced by 'Burn Notice' boss Matt Nix.
Now it's time for the cast additions. Leading things off is 'Gossip Girl's Jessica Szohr, who'll play a rule breaking ER nurse named Gretchen that hides a shadowy past. 'Leverage's Beth Riesgraf will portray John's wife Samantha, a talented lawyer struggling to keep her family together after losing a daughter to cancer. 'Justified's Demetrius Grosse assumes the role of Dan Brennan, another doctor at John's hospital, and the closest thing he has to a real friend. Finally, Lauren Stamile (who previously worked with Nix on 'Burne Notice') will play Bridget, an emotionally cold, reserved doctor who believes that John is too coddling toward his patients.
'Complications' is still in the development stage, meaning no premiere date has been set. How do you think the cast is shaping up so far?
