Attention, lords and ladies — France is about to experience a Scottish invasion of a maternal kind. Earlier today, Amy Brenneman took to Twitter to announce that she will be guest starring on the CW's freshmen hit series, 'Reign,' by playing none other than Mary's mother, Marie de Guise.
The actress, most popularly known for her time on 'Private Practice,' didn't reveal too many details about her role via her social media account (only 140 characters worth, to be exact). However, she already seems super pumped to play the part.
"Yep,it's true. Off to a wardrobe fitting to play the badass, Marie de Guise, on @CWReign," Brenneman tweeted. "Watch out, @AdelaideKane, mama's coming!"
Thus far, fans know very little about Mary Queen of Scot’s mommy dearest (other than the fact that she hasn't seen her daughter for quite some time now). But if she has even half the spunk and driven personality as Mary does, things could definitely start to get a wee bit tense at court. (Well...even more tense than it already is.) Queen Catherine better watch her back.
What do you think of this latest casting news? Do you think Brenneman is perfect for the part? How will her presence effect the balance of power at court? Sound off on your thoughts in the comments below!
'Reign' airs on Thursdays at 9/8c on The CW.
