'How I Met Your Mother's 200th Episode to Be Told from Mother's Perspective

For a series that's supposed to be centered around the story of how a man meets the mother of his children, 'How I Met Your Mother' has been...well...pretty motherless for the majority of this final season. However, all of that is about to change when the hit CBS comedy airs its 200th episode in January early next year.

According to TVLine, this impressive milestone will (ironically) stray away from the original main cast of characters and focus mostly on what's going on in the life of the future Mrs. Ted Mosby (played by Cristin Milioti). In fact, the entire episode — appropriately titled "How Your Mother Met Me," will be told completely from her perspective.

“You’re going to be so sick of her by the end [of the series],” executive producer Craig Thomas jokes with the site. So expect a lot more quality time with "The Mother" from that point forward until the series reaches its grand conclusion in May.

As for why they aren't involving more of the main cast during this rather monumental landmark, executive producer Carter Bays explains: “Our 100th episode was very much a celebration of the cast – not the cast doesn’t deserve celebrating even more after 200 episodes – but this is a different kind of story. It’s about the tale. It felt like a different kind of 200th episode, but it felt like the right one to do in terms of the greater story of the show.”

This additional screen time may even help earn the actress a few well-deserved award nods in the near future. “If she doesn’t get nominated for a guest Emmy for this episode, I don’t know what one has to do to get that,” Thomas raves. “She’s fantastic in it. Anyone who wants more of her will love this episode.”

And while we have yet to see how exactly this future couple will make sparks fly during that fateful encounter at the train station (from the brief flash-forward glimpses we've seen, Ted looks pretty miserable, not to mention slightly injured), the creators promise it will be everything we've been waiting for and more.

“It’s a bruising weekend for everybody,” replies Bays. “A lot goes down. But he’s going to meet [The Mother] at exactly the right time in his life.” Thomas adds, “Ted will be very happy at the end of the series.”

Don't care what you say, I still love this show.

How about a spin off from when they all move to the suberbs and start familys, that could be fun.

Such a shame, this show is going out on such a low. If they'd have ended it after Season 5 or 6 it would have gone down as one of the best sitcoms, but they've dragged it out way way way too far, and as such, I'm waiting for it to end, rather than enjoying each episode as I used to 5 years ago
