A veteran actor who got his big start on a sitcom is set to crack wise again, soon landing in Ohio to hang with the women of ‘Hot in Cleveland.’
As first reported by Deadline, Tim Daly has been booked for a multi-episode arc on the TV Land comedy series.
Daly is best known for his portrayal of Dr. Richard Kimble in the short-lived television adaptation of ‘The Fugitive.’ Actually, that’s not true (it was a fine show, but really, how long could he run?). Daly has in fact found success in two decades on a pair of long-running and very different shows. Before portraying Dr. Pete Wilder on the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ spinoff ‘Private Practice’ in the late 2000s, the handsome actor was flying planes on the beloved comedy ‘Wings’ in the '90s.
Having dabbled in both comedy and drama, on the small screen, Daly will get a chance to have some fun alongside the likes of Jane Leeves and Valerie Bertinelli. He is to portray Mitch Turner, a silver fox of a private detective who becomes the new owner of the agency where Joy works. Antics ensue, as Joy is taken with Turner, but Turner has eyes for Melanie.
Curiously, the announcement mentions that the Turner character has recently lost 300 pounds (good job!) on ‘The Biggest Loser.’ That reality show, though, is on NBC and owned by Comcast, while ‘Hot in Cleveland’ is on TV Land, part of Viacom. All that is to say, TV Land or one of its sister stations needs a weight-loss reality show.
‘Hot in Cleveland’ airs Wednesdays at 10/9c.
