‘Supernatural’ Kills [SPOILER], Angel War Gets Messy

Warning: if you have not watched last night’s ‘Supernatural’ fall finale, then do not read any further. Major spoilers follow, and trust me, you don’t want the episode ruined.

‘Supernatural’ Kills [SPOILER], Angel War Gets Messier

Last night’s episode titled “Holy Terror” brought war, angels, blood, death, sadness and the return of Metatron (Curtis Armstrong). Not only did matters get messy for the angels, but Dean (Jensen Ackles) has a lot of explaining and cleaning up to do.

Several big moments happened last night, and here are a few worth noting.

1. Not only did Castiel (Misha Collins) return to help Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean with an angel case, but he also got caught in an angel war. Despite getting kidnapped by angel Malachi, Cas managed to steal another angel’s grace. Yep, Cas is back as an angel, and it’s a good thing, since the war is only just beginning between Malachi, Bartholomew and Metatron.

2. Metatron returned and not to apologize, but to seek out Ezekiel (the angel possessing/healing Sam). Well, the audience quickly learned that Ezekiel died in the fall and the angel in Sam is actually Gadreel. Metatron recruits Gadreel to help him rebuild heaven as his second in command. Of course, Gadreel accepts aka not good for the Winchesters.

3. Who is this Gadreel? He is none other than the angel who was in charge of protecting the garden from evil. However, Gadreel was blamed for letting the serpent enter and infecting Earth with evil. His punishment? He was locked up in Heaven’s darkest dungeon.

4. After learning that Ezekiel died, Cas quickly notified Dean who immediately formed a plan (with help from Kevin) to get Sam “alone” so he could tell him the truth, and so he could get Sam to expel Gadreel from his body. Well, Dean’s chat with Sam goes awry, since Gadreel has taken over Sam’s body. Those angels can find all sorts of ways around the Winchesters plans.

5. Now, here comes the biggest moment from last night. Once again, ‘Supernatural’ fans said goodbye to another beloved character. Who was it this time? It was none other than prophet Kevin Tran (played by Osric Chau). In order to prove himself to Metatron, Gadreel had to kill someone -- Kevin. In somewhat of a foreshadowing moment, Kevin told Dean, “I always trust you. And I always end up screwed.” Well, he did.

Who do you think will come on as the next prophet now that Kevin is gone? How do you think Dean will save Sam this time around? Are you going to miss Kevin? Do you think Sam will ever forgive Dean once he learns the truth? Let us hear your thoughts in the comments.

‘Supernatural’ returns Tuesday, Jan.14 at 9/8c on The CW.

your show may have been airing for 9 seasons however it will take a back to back season to keep up with the characters that has lived died or has vanished. Quiet frankly I like the show however it is very repetitive.Personly it is time to drop the final curtain. If you are trying to achieve 10 seasons like SMALLVILLE did (and still fans are asking for the return with the same characters) Im not seeing it. Anyway I will continue viewing this show when I am inclined to watch something boring.

I also just expect any human who helps Sam and Dean to die. Its the cost of helping the winchesters. Its the cost of the battle the winchesters are fighting for us all. The ending of Dean crying, at another human who died... totally broke me though.

I thought it was a brillant episode. I broke at the end with Dean.

I do believe Gadreel is on 'our' side. The scene's between him and metaron seemed to me like they were both playing each other. Meta kept playing at Gadreels ego, but it also seemed as Gadreel didn't care about that. I believe his 'Killing of Kevin' was a simple move to gain metatrons trust, so he can take down metatron from the inside.

Gadreel to me, seems like an 'axious' angel, who once made a mistake, and has never had the chance to make up for it. Now, with how he sees Metatrons dislike of humanity, hes been given a second chance to protect Humanity, as he failed to do in the garden. Sadly, this required him to kill Kevin. I felt, Jared played it as "Gadreel' was hiding how much it hurt him to kill a human, as he was the most 'trusted' of all gods angels, one of the few, to protect gods 'most prised creation.'

I just think, Gadreel, is making a play on metatron, and that we will see him on the winchesters side again. He simply needs control of Sam to do this. Not, that he actually wants to take over Sam.

About time something happened in the war but too many things at once and somewhat easy. In the last 15 minutes of the show Cas finds out about Zeek POW, gets back his grace POW, tells Dean POW, Dean forms a plan POW, Kevin finds the right spell POW, they prepare the trap POW, the double cross, with all its layers, the final POW.
