'House of Cards' Gets Season 2 Premiere Date and Teaser

House of Cards Season 2 Date

The flagship series of Netflix’s scripted original programming has gotten a release date for its much anticipated second season, as well as slow-burn of teaser trailer.

‘House of Cards,’ the thrilling and sexy political drama that earned three Emmy Awards, including ones for director and casting, as well as another six nominations, will make its triumphant return on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014.

As always, in Netflix fashion, all 13 episodes in Season 2 will be available to watch instantly and on end come midnight, should you choose to binge.

Picking up where the first season left off, Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey) and wife Claire (Robin Wright) continue to wield and enhance their power, rising up the ranks in Washington by any means necessary. While Francis curries favor, especially from the President (Michael Gill) and a wealthy mogul (Gerald McRaney), he is forced to reciprocate; all the while an intrepid reporter (Kate Mara) maintains a relentless pursuit to uncover the seedy truth behind his impeccable façade.

‘House of Cards’ broke big with its first episode, which not only showcased the very talented Spacey and Wright on a Netflix series, but also nabbed Oscar-nominated director David Fincher to work on the premiere (for which he won the Emmy).

The second season will see an impressive list of directors as well, as James Foley (‘Glengarry Glen Ross’), John David Coles (‘Justified’), and Jodie Foster, who directed on another Netflix original series with ‘Orange is the New Black,’ will lead Season 2 episodes.

For those who haven’t caught up, the clock is now ticking down to Season 2, and for those who are eagerly anticipating the net batch of episodes, here is the aforementioned teaser to soak in.
