Bill Maher has always been a guy who has been brutally honest, even if it meant he raised the number of detractors he already had. His brutal honesty though, has also managed to win him a lot of fans. A testament to this fact is his popular show on HBO, called Real Time with Bill Maher, which has been renewed by HBO for two more years. HBO thought it was a smart move to renew the show given the show, and Bill’s popularity. The show has maintained its consistency over the years; hence the news of its extension for the 11th and the 12th season would surely make its fans very happy.
HBO programming president Michael Lombardo was all praises for the show and for Bill, during the official announcement of the show’s renewal. He lauded Bill’s wit and humor, along with his fearless and accurate insights on the current climate. He also mentioned he was happy that, he can keep offering Bill a platform that is without any censor or boundary, and is a platform which he can keep using to convey his original ideas, and his unique brand of humor. It’s these very qualities that, have kept the show endearing enough for the viewers to keep watching the show year after year.
Presently, Bill is enjoying an overall deal with the network, and has been with HBO right since 1989, when his first stand-up special featured on the network. Hence, Bill clearly has a special bond with the channel, which neither the channel nor Bill, would like to sever any time soon. Bill has also penned down his ideas and views in his own inimitable style, and the book is aptly named: The New New Rules: A Funny Look at How Everybody but Me Has Their Head Up Their Ass.
