'Community' Teases Fans Ahead of Season 5 Premiere
It may not be much, but it’s certainly refreshing for fans of ‘Community.’ A 15-second promo has hit YouTube (more like 10 seconds with the NBC logo at the end), drumming up excitement for the 1-hour Season 5 premiere on Thursday, Jan. 2 at 8/7c.
It’s not just any normal return however; 2014 and Season 5 mark a change for the beloved comedy series as a well as a return to form. Most notably, Dan Harmon, the series showrunner who was unceremoniously canned following three seasons, will come back to head the series after a year off, a year he would later slam for its quality, or lack thereof.
Season 5 also marks the introduction of a new regular character after Chevy Chase left the show in a rage as well (it’s a lot of off screen drama for a comedy). To place the part of, well, the "old man" character that was once Pierce Hawthorne, is Jonathan Banks, the accomplished actor who is best known for portraying Mike Erhmantraut on ‘Breaking Bad.’ You can see Banks, and the others, below, in a new poster released on the show's Facebook page.
All of that is to say, it’s great for fans to see the cast actually together and on film in light of all the craziness – and even potential cancellation.
The promo doesn’t give much. Troy, Abed, Annie, Britta, and Shirley are chanting ‘Greendale’ at their respective spots at the regular table, as a befuddled and well-dressed Jeff Winger looks on in disbelief. Amid the many boxes occupying the study room (huh?), Senor Chang (or is it Kevin?) jumps out.
